Why Choose Interior Window Shutters?

Interior Window Shutters

Interior shutters are used to protect the windows and doors of the buildings mainly the interior of the building. The ventilation is provided for both air and light to enter through the shutters into the room. To control the magnitude of light and airflow inside the room, we use shutters with louvers. The window or shutter with vertical slats is louver. These vertical slats are adjustable ones in some cases. By adjusting their angle one can control the level of light entering the room, the noise and also the air. But it gives protection from the rain and other external elements. There are also fixed louvers available. Those are from olden days. They also provide protection from rain and wind, but they cannot be adjusted according to our light and air needs as they are fixed. Indoor day lighting can be improved in the modern louvers.

Modern louvers are made of many different materials. Their slats are even made of glass; wood etc. the adjusting handle is made of different metals in different shutters. Some of the modern louvers provide the adjusting property through hanging strings. By pulling the string they can be adjusted for ventilation. They can be operated to close or open the shutter as per the air and light requirements. Based on the size of the blade of the louver, shutters with operable louvers are given different names as follows. Plantation shutters, California shutters, and traditional shutters. All the other Interior shutters don’t have rotating louvers. That is the louvers used by them are fixed. Some use solid panels. These panels have the ability to get raised and shut as per one’s needs. Tinted glass or otherwise fabric inserts are also used.

There are two types that can be significantly mentioned in the case of interior window shutters. They are Single tier unit and multiple tier units. Single tier unit, as the name indicates is a single shutter covering from the top to bottom of a window. Multiple tier units are the shutter units that make separate access for the bottom shutter and the top shutter. Here, the shutter that covers only the lower portion of the window is called café type shutter. The upper and lower parts of a shutter are separated by a horizontal divider rail, there by forming a full height shutter.

In the case of the shutters with louvers that can be operated, these divider rails increases the control to a greater extent since the louvers at the bottom and top can be operated separately. To keep the louver in the uniform position is necessary. Thus to control and adjust the position of the louver a rod is been used called tilt bar. When louver or the tilt bars are damaged one can get replacement kits and they can be easily installed. Many kinds of woods are been used in the manufacturing of interior shutters. Then they are painted according to the needs. These days interior shutters are available in different designs and they also serve for the decoration purposes in interior designing.
